The confusion was real because there were two different surfaces:

ChatGPT (consumer app): OpenAI retired GPT‑4o inside ChatGPT on February 13, 2026.
OpenAI API (developer): OpenAI deprecated chatgpt-4o-latest on February 17, 2026. We have removed it from just4o.chat.

We can't control upstream deprecations, but we can control clarity: we label models, we don't silently swap you, and we will not pretend we still have access when we don't.
